Antone D. Carvalho

New Bedford - Antone D. Carvalho, aged 74, died February 1, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Clara (Pavão) Carvalho of New Bedford. Antone was the loved father of Lynne Carvalho of New Bedford, Michelle Carvalho of New Hampshire, Keith Carvalho of Mashpee, and the late Robert Carvalho. Mr. Carvalho was the brother of John Carvalho of Michigan, Joe De Lima of New Bedford, Mary De Lima of New Bedford, and was predeceased by brother, Gilbert Lima.

Mr. Carvalho was a son of the late Francelina (Inacio) and Antonio Carvalho De Lima. He was born in Ribeira Quente, São Miguel Açores, and lived in this area since 1948. He served in the US Air Force, 4 years in active service and 2 years in the reserve. Mr. Carvalho owned ADC & Sons, a stone mason and landscaping company and had previously worked as a commercial fisherman on the Theresa R, Theresa R II, and the Irene and Hilda. Mr. Carvalho was a lifelong member, current President, and former Commander of the American Portuguese War Veterans Post #1 in New Bedford.

Mr. Carvalho’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday, February 5, at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 8:45 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
