Maria N. (Neves) Defreitas

Dartmouth - Maria N. (Neves) DeFreitas, age 84, died Monday, January 31, 2011 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco L. DeFreitas of New Bedford. Mrs. DeFreitas was the mother of Maria Cardoso of N. Dartmouth, Rosalia Rego of S. Dartmouth and the late Francisco DeFreitas. She was the sister of Jose Caetano Silveira of Arcadia, CA., Jose Silveira of Eureka, CA. and Victoria Freitas of Canada. Mrs. DeFreitas leaves behind nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DeFreitas was a daughter of Joao and Maria doCeu DaSilveira . She was born in Ponta da Faja Grande, Flores, Azores, Portugal and has lived in this area since 1967. Mrs. DeFreitas worked at Paul Modes Inc. as a floor lady and later at the Green Diner.

Mrs. DeFreitas’ funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Friday at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Parish at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
