Margaret F. (Colyar) Dias, Widow of John F. Dias, MD. She served on many committees and held office in Church, Civic and Medical organizations. She was a very active member of St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary having served two terms as President and Chairperson of the Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop for many years. On her retirement in recognition of her many hours of volunteer service, she was awarded an Honorary Life Membership. She attended the Hospital Auxiliary Leadership Institute in Hartford, Connecticut and later served as panelist at the 60th Annual Hospital Association Meeting in Chicago.
She served as President of the Massachusetts Medical Society Alliance from 1967-1968. At that time she was also chairperson of the South Shore Regional Council on Hospital Auxiliaries of Greater Boston. During World War II she was a member of the American Red Cross Motor Corp., the Gray Ladies and a First Aid Instructor.
She was a member of Hyacinth Circle #71, Daughters of Isabella, Honorary Member of the Catholic Woman’s Club, and St. Mary’s Guild of South Dartmouth. Also was a member of the Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Garden Museum, WHALe, and the Dartmouth Natural Resources Association. She was also a member of the International Essential Tremor Association.

She is survived by her nephew, Mr. Ronald Dias and his wife, Brenda of Dartmouth, her niece, Joan Wheelden of New Bedford, her nephew, Edward Silva and his wife, Patricia of Southington, Connecticut and several grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, and great grandnephews. She is also survived by her caregiver, Irene C. Champigny of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her sister the late Helen Silva and her niece, the late Elizabeth Kusha.

Mrs. Dias’ funeral will be Friday at 8:45 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, S. Dartmouth at 10A.M.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
