Maria Gloria (Matias) Santos

Providence, R.I. – Maria Gloria (Matias) Santos, age 45 years, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Women and Infant’s Hospital only hours after her birthday. She was the wife of Carlos Santos of New Bedford. Maria was the mother of Antonio J. Santos, Carlos A. Santos Jr. and Manny E. Santos all of New Bedford, grandmother of Dominic and Carsen Santos. Mrs. Santos was the sister of Jose M., Antonio F. and Edmundo M. Matias all of New Bedford and Lucy F. Matias of Acushnet, Maria Trindade (Matias) Furtado of S. Dartmouth and Maria Joanna Matias of New Bedford. She is also survived by six nieces and seven nephews.

Mrs. Santos was a daughter of Maria (Andrade) Matias DosSantos and the late Jose Matias. She was born in Vila Franca do Campo, St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area for the past 35 years.

Mrs. Santos’ funeral will be Saturday at 7:45 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 8:45 A.M. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
