Manuel Freitas Jr

New Bedford-Manuel Freitas Jr. age 75 years died Friday January 7, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Manuel was the husband of Sandra M. (McNamara) Freitas of Dartmouth. Mr. Freitas was the father of Alan J, Freitas of New Bedford and David J. Freitas of New Bedford and grandfather of Aaron Motta and Brandon Motta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Freitas was the son of the late Maria (Soares) and Manuel Freitas Sr.. Manuel was born in Acushnet MA, and has lived in this area all of his life. He was employed as a machine operator at Rodney Metals until his retirement. He served in the Mass National Guard for 26 years and served in active duty during the Berlin Crises.
Mr. Freitas’s Funeral will be Wednesday at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:45 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth, at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5-8 P.M.
