Hilda (Sousa) Carvalho "Vovie"

Dartmouth - Hilda (Souza) Carvalho “Vovie”, age 91 years, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the mother of Sheila wife of Leonard Baptiste and Sharon wife of Thomas Perry all of New Bedford. Mrs. Carvalho was the grandmother of Heidi wife of Scott Vasconcellos, Jason Baptiste and his companion Amanda, Thomas husband of Laura Perry and Jeffery husband of Diane Baptiste. She is also survived by 5 great- grandchildren and the late Joseph Vasconcelos and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carvalho was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Ferreira) Souza. Hilda was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Carvalho worked at Aerovox Corp. until her retirement.

Mrs. Carvalho’s funeral will be Wednesday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 10:30 A.M. Services will begin at 11:00 A.M.. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
