Joao Carlos Sousa

New Bedford – Joao Carlos Sousa, age 54 years, died unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, December 28, 2010. Mr. Sousa was the beloved husband of Pamela (Frias) Sousa of Dartmouth. He was the loving father of Melissa Marie Sousa of Dartmouth and brother of David Sousa of New Bedford. Mr. Sousa also leaves behind 2 nieces.

Mr. Sousa was the son of Maria I. Paixao (Craveiro) Sousa of New Bedford and the late Joao C. Sousa. He was born in São Miguel, Açores and has lived in this area for 45 yrs. He was formerly employed as a Painter for Hammond Paint Co. until his illness. He loved his farm animals, as well as gardening.

Mr. Sousa’s funeral will be Monday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday evening from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
