Stella M. Alexander

New Bedford- Stella M. (Amorin) Alexander, aged 81, Died Tuesday December 23, 2003 at Lukes Hospital . She was the wife of the late John E. Alexander of So. Dartmouth. Mrs. Alexander leaves a daughter Carolyn Mendonca wife of David Mendonca of Baltimore,Maryland and a son John C. and his wife Linda Alexander of North Dartmouth, a granddaughter Lynn Marie and her husband Andrew Nauman ,and a sister Mary Mello of South Dartmouth. She was also the sister of the late Mary J. Oliver.

Mrs. Alexander was born in New Bedford the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria M.(Ramalho) Amorim. She lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Alexander had worked as a supervisor at Cornell Dubilier and later on at the Dartmouth Council on Aging. Mrs. Alexander was very active in the Senior Circle in Dartmouth, she was past president of the Tuesday Club, member of the Dartmouth Friends of the Elderly, and was a volunteer for thew widowed persons services at the Dartmouth Center. She won numerous citations and awards for her work with the seniors.

The funeral will be Saturday December 27, 2003 from Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church So. Darmouth at 9 A.M. Family & friends are invited . Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford, Ma. Visiting Hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
