Margaret Agnes (Doyle) Souza

Margaret Agnes (Doyle) Souza, 95, formly of Boa Vista Towers in New Bedford and most recently of Nichols House Nursing Home in Fairhaven, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Ernest Souza who passed away in May. Mr. & Mrs. Souza were married for 69 years.

Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Ellis) Doyle, Mrs. Souza graduated from Taunton High School and from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1931.

She worked as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital for over 30 years. She wasalso a private duty nurse prior to her rewtirement.

She was a member of the St. Luke’s Hospital Alumni Association and was a communicant of Holy Name Church and later St. James Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Randall of Cambridge MA. And Elinor Borrman of Novato, CA.; she is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Leone D. Benevides, and the sister of the late Herbert A. Doyle, and Ruth Silva.

Mrs. Souza’s visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 28, 2003 from 2-4, & 7-9 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday December 29, 2003 at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish at 10 am. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
