Irene Sousa

Dartmouth-Irene Sousa age 89 died Wednesday December 8th at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. Miss. Sousa was the daughter of the late Mary Gloria (Carvalho) and Antone Sousa. She is survived by her special friend Kathy C. Murphy and her family and several cousins.

Miss. Sousa was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all her life. She employed as a Supervisor/Manager at The Division of Employment Security until her retirement. Miss Souza was a graduate of New Bedford High School Class of 1939; she was a former member of the Quota Club and the Greater New Bedford Choral Society and also a former member of the Stetsonaires. Miss Souza enjoyed Tennis and Swimming.

Miss. Sousa Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 10 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Gaudalupe at St. James Parish at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday 6-8 P.M.
