Octavio Almeida

New Bedford- Octavio Almeida age 40 years died Friday December 3rd, at Home after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was the loved son of Maria DeJesus (Madeira) and Manuel Almeida of New Bedford. Survivors include his brothers Carlos Almeida and his wife Lisa of Acushnet. and George Almeida and his wife Lucia of Fairhaven, sisters Debbie Madeira and her companion Tony Salgado of Acushnet, Delores DeOliveira and her husband Joe of Acushnet, and Grace Freitas and her husband Steve of New Bedford. Also by his companion Karen Medeiros He is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Almeida was born in Agua De Pau, St. Michael, Azores and has been in New Bedford area since 1972. He worked as a Auto Body Tech for Barry’s Volvo. Octavio was New England Kickboxing Champion and also enjoyed doing body work on cars.

Mr. Almeida’s Funeral will be Tuesday at 8 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 5-8 P.M.
