Joseph W. Clayton

New Bedford - Joseph W. Clayton, 77, of New Bedford, died Tuesday December 16, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Dolores (Hatch) Clayton. He is survived by his son Joseph A. Clayton of Westport, his daughter Marjorie R. Clayton of New Bedford, four grandchildren Denise Alfonso, Ryan, Daniel and Andrew Clayton, a great grandchild Andrew Byrdick, a sister Theresa DosSantos of New Bedford, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Clayton was also the father of the late Stephen A. Clayton and the brother of the late Hugh and John Clayton, Elizabeth Theodore and Margaret Kaparal.

Mr. Clayton was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of his life. He was the son of the late Hugh A. and Elizabeth (Hart) Clayton. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. as a machine operator. Mr. Clayton was a WWII Navy Veteran.

The funeral will be Friday December 19,2003 from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, Padanaram, located on Dartmouth St. in S. Dartmouth. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford, Ma. Visiting hours are Thursday December 18th from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
