New Bedford- Palmira Reis age 86 died Monday November 15, 2010 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Frank Reis. Palmira was the mother of Joseph and his wife Jaunita Reis and Linda Nichols of all of New Bedford, Virginia and her Husband Kenneth Souza of Dartmouth, Frankie Reis and his companion Vivian Gonzales of Conn, Henry and his wife Deborah Reis of Freetown, and Mary Ann and her husband David Kelly of Westport. Sister of Maria Santos and Virginia Souza both of Fairhaven, John Barros of New Bedford and John Barros of Falmouth, She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and sister in laws.
Mrs Reis was the daughter of the late Henrique and Virginia (Teixeira) Barros, Anna (Nha Nana) and Teofilo Barros and stepdaughter of the late Zulmira Barros. Mrs Reis was a sticher at Gems Sportwear until her retirement. Her interests include cooking, dancing, sewing, and gardening. She was happiest caring for her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mrs Reis Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Thursday at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 5-8 P.M, Relatives and friends are invited.
