New Bedford- Mary Stella Sylvia 95 yrs. of South Dartmouth died Saturday December 6 at home She was the wife of the late Thomas Sylvia. She is survived by a son Thomas Sylvia Jr. and his wife Michelle of Danielson, Conn. a daughter Elaine F. Martin and her husband Henry of So. Dartmouth a son in law Angelo Mello Mrs. Sylvia was the mother of the late Irene Mello. She had three sisters Dorothy Corless of Los Angeles, Cal. Emily Silva of New Bedford and Irene Champigny of Dartmouth, Grandchildren Susan Bumpus, Robert Mello, Tammy Wunschel, Lisa LaPlante, Kevin Sylvia and Paul Douglas, Step-Grandchildren Derek Stabell, Melissa Pavlik, Stephanie Eolin, David Martin and Danielle Garcia, Great-grandchildren Chad and Garrett Wunschel, Scott Medeiros, Ryan Sylvia, Jessica and Angela Bumpus; Step Great-Grandchildren, Joshua Bumpus, Kaitlyn Stabell, Victor, Eric and Isaac Pavlik, Connor, Nathan and Lauren Eolin, Molly and Morgan Garia, Brandon and David Martin and several Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Sylvia was born in St. Michael, Azores the Daughter of Manuel and Isabel (Cordeiro) Santos. She lived most her life in this area, Mrs Sylvia was a home maker. She loved her family and her best friend “Cheeba” her dog .Mrs. Sylvia was a Lifelong and Honorary Member of the Holy Ghost Society of Horseneck

The funeral Mass will be Wednesday December 10th at St. Mary’s Church S. Darmouth @ 10 :00 A.M. Visiting hours will be Tuesday December 9, 4 to 8 PM Family & friends are invited. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford, Ma.
