Irene Rapoza

New Bedford- Irene (Lacerda) Rapoza, 85 of New Bedford died Friday, December 5th at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Antone B. Rapoza.They were married for 62 years. She is survived by her two daughters Rita and her husband Leroy Medeiros of New Bedford and Catherine and her husband Tor Olsen of Manchester, CT., A grandson Brian and his wife Susan Medeiros, and a granddaughter Pamela and her husband Paul Boudreau. A Great-grand son Ryan Paul Boudreau, and several nieces and nephews, and godchildren. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Anthony, and Richard Lacerda.

Mrs. Rapoza was born in New Bedford, the daughter of John F. and Isabella (Roderick) Lacerda. She lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Rapoza worked as a salesclerk at Saltmarsh's Department Store, and retired after 20 years.

The funeral will be Tuesday December 9, 2003 from Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, County Street. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford, Ma. Calling hours are Monday December 8th from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
