Joao Desousa

New Bedford – Joao DeSousa, age 62, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 unexpectedly at home. Mr. DeSousa is survived by his niece Heather Sylvia, his brothers and sisters: Antonio and Jamie Sousa, Ines Tetreault and Maria Sylvia. Joao is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. DeSousa was born in St. Michael, Azores and has lived in this area for over 46 years. He was a son of the late Naria (Furtado) and Manuel DeSousa.

Mr. DeSousa’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Friday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Thursday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
