James Souza

Dartmouth – James Souza, age 89 years, died Friday, August 27, 2010 on his 89th Birthday, at St Luke’s Hospital after a long Illness. James was the loved husband for 67 years of Arminda (Affonso) Souza of Dartmouth. He was the loving father of Jane A. Carreiro of Dartmouth, and grandfather of Darren House of Dartmouth and the late Justin House, brother of Dean Souza of Dartmouth and David Souza of Fairhaven. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Souza was the son of the late Rosalina (Cabral) and Anthony Souza, of Fairhaven. He was employed by Chace Chevrolet as the supervisor of the Auto Body Department. Mr. Souza was a former member of the American Legion Post 307 and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He served as a medic during the Blitz in England.

Mr. Souza’s Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 A.M at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, S. Dartmouth, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Mass. National Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday August 31, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
