Mary Joe Oliver

New Bedford - Mary Joe (Amorim) Oliver of South Second St. New Bedford died November 24, 2003 at home, after a long illness. She was the wife of William Oliver they were married for 60 years. She was the mother of nine children: Manuel Oliver of South Dartmouth, Mary Joe Rogers of Kansas, Stella Medeiros of New Bedford, William Oliver Jr. Deceased, George Oliver of Fall River, Rose Mary Lowe of North Dartmouth, Carol Sylvia of New Bedford, Christine Goncalves of Florida, and Doris Oliver of New Bedford. She has two sisters Stella Aalexander, and Mary Melo both of South Dartmouth. She has 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Oliver was born in New Bedford, MA. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Ramalha) Amorim. She lived in this area all her life. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, and a member of Pro-Life.

Mrs. Oliver‘s funeral will be Saturday November 29, 2003 from Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Church, County St. New Bedford, MA. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. Calling hours are Friday November 28th from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
