Maria I. Soares

New Bedford - Maria I. Soares, age 64 years, died Saturday, August 22, 2010 at home. Maria was the wife of the late Jose Carreiro Pimentel. She was the mother of Antonio Soares Pimentel of New Bedford, and Sandra Aguiar of St. Michael Azores. She was the grandmother of Andrew Pimentel, Nadia, Bruna Aguiar and Austin Mello. She was the sister of John Soares, Edna Soares of New Bedford, Jose Costa of Acushnet and Connie De Melo of Fairhaven. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Soares was a daughter of Antonio Soares of Portugal and the late Silvana Duarte. She was born in São Miguel Açores and she has lived here since 1996.

Mrs. Soares’ funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Friday at 9:15 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will take place in Portugal. Visiting Hours are Thursday evening from 5:30 –8:30 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Please omit flowers.
