New Bedford –Vivian (Pereira) Paiva, age 90 years, died Saturday August 21, 2010 at The Oaks. Mrs. Paiva was the wife of the late Manuel “Pifco” Paiva. Loved Mother of Dr. Kenneth B. Paiva of Lincoln, Ca., and Stephen Paiva and his wife Madeline of New Bedford , loved grandmother of Christine Stewart, Jason K. Paiva, Shannon C. Paiva, Sarah B. Paiva-Shuster, Lauryn K. Paiva, Erin R. Paiva, Zachary A. Paiva, Nicholas Paiva, and Jacob Paiva. And great grandmother of Duncan Stewart, and Eli Brady Shuster. She was the sister of the late Antone A. Pereira killed in action during WWll, Manuel A. Pereira, and John A. Perry.She was also survived by various nieces and nephews.
Mrs Paiva was the daughter of the late Caridade Conceicao Pestana and Antonio A. Pereira . She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. Mrs Paiva was a Floor Supervisor at Vanessa Sportswear until her retirement. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods, ballroom dancing and her many years at the Portuguese American Social Club as a worker and patron, she was also a Foster Grandparent. Mrs Paiva was an avid New York Yankees Fan.
Mrs Paivas funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M.. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Tuesday evening from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
