Esmaria O. Melo

New Bedford - Esmaria O. Melo, age 85 years, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Antonio Melo. Survivors include 2 Sons: Louis DeMelo of Tiverton, RI and Daniel DeMelo of New Bedford, a daughter: Helen DeMelo of New Bedford, 4 grandchildren: Daniel DeMelo, Deborah Arruda, Rodney Tavares and Gina Marie Tavares, a brother Antonio Guerreiro of Seekonk and a sister Fernanda Fiit of California. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Melo was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria do Ceu (Oliveira) Guerreiro. She born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and moved here in 1962. She worked as an inspector for American Tourister until her retirement.

Mrs. Melo’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. with her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will take place at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are 5 - 8 P.M. on Tuesday. Relatives and friends are invited.
