New Bedford-Antonio I Pedras age 82 years died peacefully July 10th at Sacred Heart Home after a Period of declining health due to Alzheimer’s Disease He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth J. “Betty” (Vieira) Pedras of New Bedford. He was the loved father of Susan E. Plank and her husband Farell. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew and Lauren Plank. Antonio was the brother of Mary A. Cabral and her husband Richard of New Bedford, and Joseph Pedras of New Bedford and the late Helen Pedras. He was also survived by a niece, 2 nephews and a greatniece.
Mr. Pedras was the son of the late Antonio and Aurora L. (Patricio) Pedras. He was a life long resident of New Bedford. He was employed at John I Paulding as a Draftsman and Machinist. He also worked at Chamberlain Mfg. as a Tool Room Foreman. Antonio graduated from New Bedford High in 1945 and New Bedford Vocational in 1953 to learn a trade, he also went 1 year to New Bedford Institute of Textiles and Technology. He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1
Mr. Pedras Funeral will be Wednesday at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
