New Bedford-Bertha Franco age 85 years went on to be with her lord and savior on June 17, 2010. She last lived at Hathaway Manor. She was the wife of the late Horacio Franco. She was the beloved mother of Laura , Arthur and Francisco Franco and Natalia Oliveira all of New Bedford. The loving grandmother of Paul and Robert Ponte of New Bedford, Andrea Jackson of Cape Coral, Fl., Meagan, Aaron, and Bethany Oliveira of New Bedford and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Matilde Miranda of New Bedford, a brother Jacinto Correia of Brazil, and was the sister of the late Manuel Correia. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews, including her godchild Mary Jo Camara, and many wonderful friends.

Mrs. Franco was born in São Miguel, Açores and has lived in this area since 1966. Bertha was a supervisor and sample maker at Kay Windser and Vanessa Mfg until her retirement. Her greatest joys were her family and serving her Lord through her Church, the Baptist Temple in Fall River.

Mrs. Franco’s funeral service will be Sunday evening at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. during visiting hours. Services will start a 6:30 P.M. . Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-8 P.M. On Monday a service will take place at 9:30 at Perry Funeral Home folowed by a burial at Rural Cemetery In Lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to PABC 46 Barlow St. Fall River, Ma 02723.
