New Bedford-Palmira DaSilva age 88 years died Wednesday June 16th at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Camilo DaSilva. Palmira was the loving mother of Mary Lou Ferreira of Dighton, Daniel DaSilva and Arthur DaSilva both of New Bedford. Palmira was the sister of Amelia Rebello of Canada and Conceicao Ventura of São Miguel, Açores all of her brothers are deceased. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 18great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. DaSilva was the daughter of the late Manuel and Victoria (De Algueira) Oliveira. She was born in São Paulo, Brazil and moved here in 1961. Palmira was a stitcher at the Ginger Peach Factory and other clothing factories until her retirement.
Mrs. DaSilva’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday 5-8 P.M.
