Alice (Simmons) Medeiros

New Bedford – Alice (Simmons) Medeiros, age 89 years, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility of a long illness. She was the wife of the late Frank Medeiros. Mrs. Medeiros was the mother of Nancy Hallett of Dartmouth, and David Medeiros of Fairhaven. Alice was loving grandmother of Velvet Spring, and Scott Medeiros. She was the sister of Olivia Cordeiro of Dartmouth, and the late Lawrence Simmons and Manuel Simmons. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild and by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Medeiros was the daughter of the late Florinda (Miranda) and Manuel J. Simmons. She was born in New Bedford lived in this area all of her life. Alice was employed as a floor worker at local dress factories until her retirement.

Mrs. Medeiros’s funeral will be Thursday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
