New Bedford-Jose Pacheco Branco died Friday May 14, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loved husband of 58 yrs of Clotilde (daRosa) Branco
He was the loving father of Maria Clotilde Branco of New Bedford, and the late Jose Pacheco Branco. He was the brother of Emilia Azevedo of New Bedford and Ema Adelia Branco Ruivo of Queluz, Portugal, and the late Manuel Amaro Branco and Maria Regina Branco Borges. He is also survived by godchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews of Horta, Portugal, Canada, New Bedford. Cambridge and several other places in the United States.
Mr. Branco was the son of the late Maria Ernestina (Avila) and Vital Pacheco Branco. He was born in Horta, Faial Açores and has lived in this area for 40 years. He was known as Jose Vital In Horta. He was the mestre at Sapataria Lecoq and porteiro at Teatro Faialense. In the United States he was an inspector with Stride Rite Shoes in Brockton until his retirement.
Jose was a warm, caring and loving husband and father. He loved working in his yard and fishing.
Mr. Branco’s Funeral Services will be Thursday at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
