Lydia (Casquilho) Sylvia

New Bedford - Lydia (Casquilho) Sylvia, age 76, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at New Bedford Health Care Center. Lydia was the wife of William F. Sylvia Jr. of New Bedford. Mrs. Sylvia was the mother of Wayne F. Sylvia, companion of Joan of Fall River. She was the sister of Alice Pacellini of New Bedford and the late Belmira Vieira and James Casquilho. She was also survived by 2 grandchildren: Jodi Medeiros and Kristie Sylvia, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sylvia was a daughter of the late Luiza (Gonsalves) and John S. Casquilho. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. Lydia was formerly employed as a stitcher at Calvin Clothing.

A moment of silence will be observed by the family at 1 P.M. on this Sunday, May 2. Everyone is invited to share in that moment of silence. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by the pool.

In accordance with her wishes she was cremated.
