Maria R. (Araujo) Pavao

Fairhaven-Maria R. Pavao age 88 years died April 12th at Our Lady’s Haven with her loved ones by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Pavao. Loved mother of George and his wife Monique Pavao of Dartmouth, and the late Dennis Pavao. She was the grandmother of Kimberly Pavao-Branco, Adam Pavao, Benjamin Moniz, Jacqueline Moniz and Katherine Moniz; great-grandmother of Nicholas, Sadye and Lexie Pavao. Maria was the sister of Germana Viveiros and Antone Araujo both of Toronto Canada. She was predeceased by a sister and 2 brothers. Maria raised her nephew Joseph Carvalho like her son. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pavao was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Perreira) Araujo. Maria was born in São Miguel, Açores and has lived in this area since 1954. She was a caretaker in private homes until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s Our Lady of the Rosary Society.

Mrs. Pavao’s Funeral will be Thursday at 8 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be the morning of the funeral.
