New Bedford – Carolyn A. (Jackson) Machado, age 66, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Machado was the wife of Edward Machado of New Bedford and North Port, Fla., the mother of Christine Hamm of East Freetown, John Tetreault and Sandra Rousseau both of New Bedford, the sister of Ruby Marlene Sabino and Raymond L. Jackson Jr. both of Dartmouth and Linda N. Lima of New Bedford, stepmother of Dale Machado of Westport, mother-in-law of Shelly Tetreault and Joseph Hamm. Mrs. Machado is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mrs. Machado was born in New Bedford, a daughter of Beatrice (Goes) Jackson of New Bedford and the late Raymond L. Jackson. She was employed as a hairdresser and florist and lived in this area most of her life also having resided in North Port, Florida since 1991. Mrs. Machado was co-president of the North Port Florida Art Guild and she was a former member of the Whaling City Miniature Enthusiasts. Carolyn was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and the LeBaron Hairdressing Academy.
Mrs. Machado’s funeral will be Thursday at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at a time to be announced. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
