Lawrence J. Teixeira

New Bedford - Lawrence J. Teixeira, age 65, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at home following a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Mello) Teixeira of New Bedford. He was the loved father of Kimberly Smith of Palm Coast, FL. and Kelly Teixeira of Westport, MA. He was the loving grandfather of Ryan, Lauren and Allison Smith and Alex Teixeira. Larry was the brother of William J. Teixeira and his wife of Titusville, FL. He was the loved son-in-law of Doris Mello who provided him with loving care, and the late Antone Mello. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was the uncle of the late Kevin Mello.

Mr. Teixeira was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Baptiste) Teixeira. Larry was the transportation administrator for Greylawn Foods. He was a member of the New Bedford Revolver & Rifle Club; Moose Lodge #914 and the Madeira Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and “Libby” his dog. Larry loved cookouts with his great friends and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit in the evening with his loves ones around. He enjoyed traveling and camping with Cathy & Steve.

Mr. Teixeira’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 10 A.M. with a service at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday evening from 6 - 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
