Alfred J. Pacheco Jr. of New Bedford passed over on Sunday March 14, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband to Zulmira J. Sylvia Pacheco of New Bedford, they celebrated their 57th yr of marriage in 2009. Mrs. Pacheco resides in New Bedford.

Born in New Bedford he lived his early years in Fairhaven. Son of the late Alfred J. Pacheco and Stella Pacheco. Al attended N. B. Vocational High School when he made his decision to serve his county in the Navy. He joined and was then shipped out to China where most of his time spent. When Al was discharged he joined his family in North Fairhaven to run the family business “Al’s Package Store” where he worked with his brother for the next 30 + yrs. In 2009 Al received his Honary graduate diploma from Voc Tech, being recognized as a Navy Veteran of WWII.

Al’s love for fishing took him to every beach, bridge and river thru out the area. He was a member of the Vets 88 Fishing Club of N.B. the AM Vets of New Bedford and served on the board of director for the former Luzo Bank.

Survivors include his wife Zulmira “zel”, son Michael Pacheco and wife Christine, daughter Cynthia Ann (Pacheco) Viera and husband Charles, and Al’s brother Robert Pacheco and wife Diana grandchildren: Nickolas J. Pacheco, Caitlyn M. Pacheco along with several nieces and nephews. Al was brother of the late Dorothy Medeiros and Marjorie Catojo both of N.B.

Family and friends were important to Al he loved making memories and telling stories. We will miss you dearly, your smile, your laugh and your love. You will always be with us. Your Loving Crew.

Mr. Pacheco’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 4- 8 P.M. on Thursday. Friends are invited to attend.
