New Bedford - Cynthia (Morris) Furtado, aged 62, died unexpectedly, Tuesday March 9, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Leonard Furtado of New Bedford. Mrs. Furtado was a daughter of the late John and Augustina Morris.
Cindy was born in Acushnet, and was a graduate of Dartmouth High School – Class of 1965. She was the former owner of Family Florist in New Bedford, a family owned business given to her by her parents. For the past few years Cindy worked at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, at the patient information desk, a job she greatly loved. Her favorite pastimes were going to Newport Grand and Foxwoods, but her most cherished moments were spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Mrs. Furtado is survived by her husband Leonard, her four children; Kimberly Furtado of New Bedford, Christopher Furtado of Pembroke, Jennifer DeOliveira of New Bedford and Kerri-Jean Furtado of New Bedford; her sister Marilyn Hebert of Tewksbury, seven grandchildren: Alexandra, Jackson, Jayme, Drew, Brady, Kierra and Conner, two godsons Scott Hebert and James Hebert, many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends.

Mrs. Furtado’s funeral will be Saturday from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, on County St. at 8:45 A.M., Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
