Herminia Pereira (Soares) Demello

New Bedford – Herminia Pereira (Soares) DeMello, age 90, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Manuel DeMello.

Mrs. DeMello is survived by her beloved sons, Manuel "Manny" De Mello of Dartmouth, John De Mello of New Bedford and Joseph De Mello of Dartmouth, and mother of the late Natalie DaCosta. Herminia was the sister of Jose Soares of Canada. Mrs. DeMello is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DeMello was the daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Pereira) Soares. She born in São Miguel, Açores, and has lived in this area since 1955. Herminia was a home maker.

Mrs. DeMello’s funeral will be Monday at 8 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday from 5 - 8 P.M.
