Joseph M. Heed

Coventry, RI. - Joseph M. Heed, age 88, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Coventry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband, of 54 years, of the late Joan T. (Mc Gill) Heed.

Born May 17,1921 in Brooklyn, NY. A son of the late John A. and Mary Ellen (Colleran) Heed, he lived all his life on Long Island, N.Y., moving to Rhode Island in 1984.

Mr. Heed was a signal maintainer for the New York City Transit Authority, Retiring in 1984. He was a Marine Corp. Veteran who served during WW II.

Joseph is survived by his beloved son, Benjamin H. Heed and his friend and companion Robert L. Souza of New Bedford, MA. He was the brother of the late John M., Thomas, Charles A., William, and Martin J. Heed, Jane Ollweiler, Cecelia Smith, Mary Ellen Vuocolo, and Margaret Albert.

Mr. Heed’s Funeral will be Friday at 8 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn NY. Visiting hours are Thursday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M.
