Rachel Cardoso Cunha

New Bedford - Rachel Cardoso Cunha, 27 years old, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital , after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family. Rachel was the daughter of Amelia (Cardoso) and John F. Cunha of N. Dartmouth.

Ms. Cunha was a 2004 graduate of U. Mass Dartmouth with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Lab Science whose aspiration was to become a Physician’s Assistant. She was employed as a lab technician at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA until her illness. Rachel enjoyed traveling; Portugal and California were her favorite places to visit. She adored spending time with her family, friends and her best friend Mya.

Rachel was born in New Bedford and lived in Dartmouth most of her life. Survivors include her mother and father, her sister Christina C. Delgado, brother-in-law Shawn Delgado, her paternal grandparents Joao and Maria F. Cunha, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rachel was the maternal granddaughter of the late Manuel and Adelaide Cardoso.

Rachel’s Memorial Service will be Saturday at 1 P.M. at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at the church. Visiting hours are omitted.
