Nathan Roger King

Beloved son of David King and Michelle DuVal-King.
Brother of Hayden and Phoebe.
Grandson of Elizabeth King and the late Kenneth King, Madelyn and David St. Germain and Robert and Janice DuVal.
Nate was a member of the Romero class at Nativity Preparatory School where he earned numerous academic and athletic honors. He was a 2009 graduate of New Bedford High School, where he was a standout swimmer, qualifying for the state championships for three consecutive years and serving as team co captain his junior and senior years. He was active in sports in his youth, playing SEYAA baseball, NBYSA soccer, YMCA basketball and roller hockey. He enjoyed music and had opportunity to play in several local shows with his band Agony.
Nate was employed by the Southcoast YMCA where he was a lifeguard and shared his knowledge and passion for swimming by teaching children. He planned to attend UMass Dartmouth in the fall, majoring in biology.
Nate’s spiritual home was Grace Episcopal Church. He served as acolyte and was active in church school and youth groups since the age of five. Through Grace he participated in numerous community and volunteer activities, including a pilgrimage to Arizona where he had the opportunity of a lifetime to visit the Grand Canyon.
In addition to his immediate family Nathan is survived by his companion Aidan Read, several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous personal friends. Nathan was known to “walk to the beat of his own drum”, he was deeply loved by many and will be sorely missed

Mr. King’s funeral will be Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Arrangements are by the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday Evening from 4 – 8 P.M.
