Jose M. Cunha

Fall River – Jose M. Cunha, age 72, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at Charton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Mr. Cunha was the beloved husband of Fernanda (Carvalho) Cunha of New Bedford. He was the father of Rosa, wife of Luis Carroca and Michelle, wife of Helder Cunha-Faria both of New Bedford, Paul, husband of Denise Cunha and Jerry, husband of Janet Cunha both of Somerset. Mr. Cunha is survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, sisters Fatima Correia and Lourdes Sousa both of Dartmouth, sister Isaura Pacheco and brother Manuel Cunha both of New Bedford. He was also the brother of the late Gil Cunha.

Mr. Cunha was born in St. Michael, Azores and has lived in this area since 1969. He was the son of the late Manuel Caetano Cunha and Maria (Verissimo) Cunha. He was formerly a machine operator at the Berkshire Hathaway Mills.

Mr. Cunha’s funeral will be Wednesday from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at St John the Baptist Church at 10 A.M., burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
