Joseph A. Sylvia

New Bedford, MA.-Joseph A. Sylvia age 83 years died January 22nd At the Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility with his loved ones with him. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda (Simmons) Sylvia. Joe was the father of Ken J. Sylvia and his wife Cindy of Dartmouth, Donald J. Sylvia and his wife Diane of Dartmouth and Sally Ann Ribeiro and her husband Neal of New Bedford. Joe was the brother of Alice Lamb of Marion, Charles Sylvia of New Bedford and Mary Ann Maus of Denver, CO. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sylvia was the son of the late John A. and Mary (Medeiros) Sylvia. He was born in New Bedford MA. and lived most his life in the New Bedford Area. Joe was a self-employed contractor before his retirement. Joe was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Sylvia’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Wednesday January 27, at 8:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church South Dartmouth, at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery Visiting hours will be Wednesday Morning prior to Mass.
