Gilbert M. Pacheco

New Bedford- Gilbert M. Pacheco aged 67 years died January 16, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Jeanne E. Pacheco of North Dartmouth. Father of Steven Pacheco and his wife Katherine of New Bedford, Gilbert Pacheco of Westport, John Pacheco of New Bedford and Juliet Amaral and her husband Robert of N. Dartmouth, and the late Douglas J. Pacheco. Gilbert was the brother of Mary Caswell of Freetown, and Joe Pacheco of Virginia Beach,and the late Tony Pacheco. Mr. Pacheco is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pacheco was the son of the late Albertina (Dupont) and John Pacheco. He was born in Agua de Pao, Açores and lived in New Bedford since the age of 8. Gilbert was the Proprietor of GP Box Company. He independently built and ran a successful business for many years. Gilly was known to most for his generosity and willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He unconditionally found true happiness and satisfaction in helping others.

Religious services will be Thursday January 21th at Perry Funeral Home at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. Interment will be at South Dartmouth Cemetery.
