Rita T. (Soares) Rivet

New Bedford-Rita T. Rivet age 79 years died Friday January 15th at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her loved ones, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Rivet who past away on the same date in 1995. Rita was the loved mother of Andrew Rivet and his wife Nancy, Randall Rivet and his wife Diane, Peter L. Rivet and his wife Tammy all of New Bedford and Gerry Rivet of Los Angels CA. Rita was the loving grandmother of Jared, Christina, Randall John, Jacob, Noah, and Simon Peter. She was the sister of the late Mary Hillow. Rita has two beloved nieces Dixie, and Janet. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her friend Phillip Kalife of Somerset.

Mrs. Rivet was the daughter of John and Mary (Pimental) Soares. She was born in New Bedford, grew up in Dartmouth. Rita graduated from Dartmouth High School. She was an active member in area Churches. She played the organ at St. Lawrence and Our lady’s Haven, a member of the Legionaries of Christ.

Mrs. Rivet’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Tuesday at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery #2. Visiting hours will be Monday 5-8 P.M. In Lieu of flowers a donation may be made to E.W.T.N. 5817 Old Leeds Road Irondale, AL. 35210-9948
