Elmanea "Ella" (Estrella) Almeida

New Bedford- Elmanea “Ella” (Estrella) Almeida aged 95 years died January 10, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph Almeida. Survivors include her beloved sister in law Joaquina Magalhaes Estrella, her dear cousin Arlette George of Fall River, her beloved niece and godchild Arlene Estrella Jones and her husband Walter S. Jr. of New Bedford and her special great nephews Brian T. and Matthew D. Granfield, godsons John George and his wife Alma of Fall River and Ronald George of Kentucky. She was the sister of the late Ludjero and Arnold Estrella.

Mrs. Almeida was the daughter of the late Marianna (Fonseca) and Luis Estrella. She was born in Terceira Azores and lived in New Bedford since the age of 2. Mrs. Almeida worked as a Stitcher for Cliftex until her retirement. She was a resident of the Tabor Nursing Home for many years and leaves behind a family of dedicated staff and loving care- givers. Ella’s love of life and sense of humor will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have been part of her life. She was always there for her family and friends with a kind heart and a sweet smile.

Religious services will be Wednesday January 13th at Perry Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will commence at 10:30 A.M. prior to Services. Interment will be at St John Cemetery.
