Dorothy Canastra

New Bedford – Dorothy Canastra age 81 passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital November 21st after a brief illness. Dorothy was the beloved widow of Manuel Canastra; She was the sister of Elizabeth Ryder of North Attleboro,and the late Normand B. Reed and Angelo Reed. Dorothy was the aunt of Bradford Reed of New Bedford and Carolyn L. Souza of New Bedford.

Mrs. Canastra was the daughter of the late Percy and Pauline (DeCosta) Reed. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all her life. Dorothy was a kitchen aid for St. Luke’s Hospital until her retirement.

In accordance with her wishes Mrs. Canastra was cremated. Burial of ashes will be at Rural Cemetery on December 10, at 9:30 A.M. Funeral Arrangements were handled by Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St.
