Joan M. Robinson

New Bedford – Joan M. (Grimshaw) Robinson, age 78, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Joan was the wife of John F. Robinson, they would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Nov. 11, 2009. She was the mother of John F. Robinson Jr. and Joseph W. Robinson both of New Bedford.

Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Georgianna (Proulx) Grimshaw. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School, Class of 1948, Mrs. Robinson was then employed at the Babbitt Steam Speciality Co. until her retirement in 1994. Joan was a kind and thoughtful person who always thought of people besides herself. She was especially devoted to her family and friends.

Mrs. Robinson’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Wednesday at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford, MA. at 10 A.M. Interment will follow at Mass. National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either The Catholic Charities Appeal or to the Salvation Army.
