Kena (Graca) Costa

New Bedford MA. - Kena (Graca) Costa, age 99, passed away Monday, August 17, 2009 at Taber St. Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Costa. Mrs. Costa was the beloved mother of Maurice Costa of Boston and Natalie Marron of Fairhaven and beloved mother in law of Vincent Marron of Fairhaven. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs Costa was the mother of the late David Costa and sister of the late Mary, Amos and George Miranda, Anna Cardoza, Margaret Baptiste, Edward, Charles, Joseph Jr. and Frank Graca.

Mrs. Costa was a daughter of the late Justina “Jenny” Miranda and Joseph Graca. She was born in E. Wareham and lived in the New Bedford area since 1965. She was a lifetime member of the Garden Club of New Bedford and served a term as the Secretary and was formerly President of Cape Verdean Womens Auxiliary in Jersey City, N.J..

Mrs. Costa’s funeral will be Friday, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 10 A.M. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church, on County St. New Bedford at 11 A.M. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6 – 8 P.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited.
