Leonora (Costa) Gonsalves

New Bedford - Leonora (Costa) Gonsalves "also known as Connie", age 82, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at home after a long illness surrounded by her family. She was the mother of Leonora Reed of New Bedford,John Gonsalves of Rochester, Rosemarie Forsblom of New Bedford, Antonio Gonsalves of Fall River, Doreen Gonsalves of New Bedford,Darlene Nunes of Acushnet, Arnold Gonsalves both of Bristol, RI and the late RobertA Gonsalves. Leonora was the step mother of Joseph and Lawrence Gonsalves both of New Bedford. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Bernardino, Joseph, and John Costa, Rose Mendes and Emil Lague.
Mrs. Gonsalves was a daughter of the late Amelia (Ponte) and Bernardino Costa. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area and Bristol R.I. Leonora was employed as a Housekeeper at Silver Creek Nursing Home in Bristol RI. She was a member of the Mount Carmel Seniors.

Mrs. Gonsalves’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St., Tuesday at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial being at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
