Frank S. Tavares Jr.

New Bedford-Frank S. Tavares Jr. age 78 years died Wednesday peacefully at home with his loved ones presence. He was the loved husband of Alice Joyce (Richmond) Tavares of New Bedford. Frank was the loving father of Frank G. Tavares and his wife Janine of Clearwater, FL. and Joyce Correira and her husband Rick of Fairhaven, MA.
Frank Jr. was the loving grandfather of Casey L. Correira - Macy and her husband Isaac Macy, Frank G. Tavares Jr., Kimberly Tavares and Nicholas F. Tavares. Frank was the brother of Delores Jaques of New Bedford, Linda Tsotsones, of Fairhaven and Madeline Pires of New Bedford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tavares was the son of the late Frank S. Tavares Sr. and Custodia (Cunha) Tavares. He was a life long resident of this area. Frank was a foreman with the Massachusetts Highway Department. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

His visiting hours will be from the Perry Funeral Home Sunday Evening August 9, 2009 from 5 – 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his memory to Habitat for Cats 596 Hathaway Rd. New Bedford, MA. 02746. In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.
