Alfredo Manuel Soares

New Bedford - Alfredo Manuel Soares, age 63, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria (Carreiro) Soares of New Bedford. Mr. Soares was the father of Walter Soares, husband of Elaine and Paul Soares both of New Bedford. He was the brother of Enrico Soares of Canada and Jose Elias Soares of Portugal. He is also survived by one grandson: Erik Martens and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Soares was a son of the late Manuel Joaquim and Isabela (Carreiro) Soares. He was born in Agua de Pau, Sao Miguel, Azores, and lived here since 1980. Mr. Soares worked at the Carol Cable Co. as an inspector.

Mr. Soares’ funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Tuesday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 - 8 P.M. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited.
