Maria M. (Baptista) Costa

Dartmouth- Maria M. Costa age 91 years passed peacefully in the care of her beloved son, on Sunday July 19th. After a fourteen-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the beloved wife of the late John Costa. She was the loved mother of John Costa Jr. of Dartmouth. Maria is the sister of Art Borges of Long Beach CA.and the late Manuel Baptista. She was the sister-in-law of Lucy Raposa. Mrs. Costa is also survived by several nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Costa was the daughter of the late Duke and Mary (Borges) Baptiste. She was born in Dartmouth and lived in this area all her life. She was a Floor Lady at Normandy’s Bed Spread until her retirement. She also enjoyed Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Traveling with the Council on Aging, Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting, and was a volunteer worker with the Council on Aging.

Mrs. Costa Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home Friday July 24th at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church South Dartmouth, at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday evening from 4-8 P.M.
