Jose Torres

New Bedford - Jose Torres, age 95 years, died peacefully, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at his home. He was the husband of Maria Laura (Rego) Torres of New Bedford. Loved father of Joseph Torres of New Bedford, Lillian Torres-Raposo and her husband Duarte of Rochester, and the late Gilberta Houtman and Dennis Torres. He was the grandfather of Nathaniel, Angelica, Benjamin and many more grandchildren.

Mr. Torres was a son of the late Teresa (Jesus) and Jose Torres. He was born in São Miguel Açores, Portugal. He was formally employed as a cutter at a shoe factory.

Mr. Torres’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
