Maria Da Gloria Benevides

Maria Da Gloria Benevides, passed way peacefully after a long illness on Monday May 11, her 90th birthday at Brandon Woods of South Dartmouth Nursing home surrounded by her family after a long illness, She was the widow of Antonio Medeiros Brilhante

She was born May 11, 1919 in Faja de Cima, Saõ Miquel Açores. She was the daughter of the late Maria da Gloria and Manuel Benevides. Mrs. Benevides moved to New Bedford in 1992.

She was communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

She is survived by her two children; a son Ernesto L. Medeiros and his wife, Normenia and a daughter Filomena M. Pacheco, Two grandchildren Denise and Mark both of New Bedford. She was also the sister of the late Mercedes Raposo, Maria Jose Vicente, Maria de Jesus Furtado and Senhorinha Benevides. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Benevides’ Funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Friday at 8 A.M. With a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery.Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
